Court Grants Justice Crack Bail After Days of Courtroom Controversy
A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to social media personality Justice Crack following days of courtroom controversy over his detention and an earlier failed bail application, as the Justice Crack granted bail case continues to attract public attention.
Justice Crack, whose arrest generated nationwide reactions after viral videos in which he criticised alleged poor welfare and feeding conditions affecting Nigerian soldiers, was granted bail in the sum of ₦5 million alongside conditions including a senior federal civil servant as surety and the submission of his international passport.
The latest development comes days after disputes within the defence team disrupted an earlier bail application, triggering widespread reactions across social media.
The previous hearing was disrupted after disagreements emerged over legal representation, leading to the withdrawal and striking out of an earlier bail application before the court.
Justice Crack is currently facing charges linked to alleged cybercrime and public incitement following his viral criticism of the military, with the Department of State Services (DSS) handling the prosecution.
Following the latest ruling, supporters of Justice Crack celebrated the decision across X (formerly Twitter), Facebook and TikTok, with many viewing the bail ruling as a major development in the case.
The arrest and prosecution have continued to attract national attention due to the wider conversations surrounding free speech, military criticism, social media activism and the role of security agencies in Nigeria.
The case is expected to return to court as proceedings surrounding the charges continue.
