Mbaitoli PDP: Barr. Uchenna Ojini Steps Down for Toni Brown Odunze Ahead of Assembly Primary

Today, being the 12th day of May 2026, a significant political development has emerged within the Mbaitoli PDP in Imo State following the voluntary withdrawal of Barr. Uchenna Sunday Ojini from the race for the Mbaitoli State Constituency House of Assembly primary election.

Ojini, who currently serves as the PDP Chairman in Mbaitoli LGA, announced his withdrawal in a formal letter dated May 12, 2026, addressed to the Imo State PDP Chairman.

In the letter, he said the decision was taken in the interest of “party unity, cohesion, and victory” ahead of the forthcoming elections.

The development is viewed by party members and political observers as likely to strengthen support for Hon. Toni Brown Odunze, whose growing influence continues to attract attention within Mbaitoli political circles.

Prior to his withdrawal, Ojini had established a long-standing presence within the PDP structure in Mbaitoli, having served in several party positions, including Ward Secretary, Ward Chairman, Publicity Secretary of the party in the LGA, and later as PDP LGA Chairman.

He had also recently secured the party’s nomination form for the Mbaitoli State Assembly contest before formally stepping down from the race.

Supporters of Toni Brown Odunze have described him as a candidate focused on grassroots development, youth empowerment, women inclusion, and responsive representation.

Political analysts believe the latest development could reshape internal party dynamics ahead of the PDP primary election as stakeholders continue consultations and alignments toward the 2027 electoral cycle.

Attention is now expected to shift to the party’s next strategic moves and the eventual emergence of its candidate for the Mbaitoli State Constituency election.
